The Mini is rightly regarded as an "all time great". A legend it it's own lifetime. While Sir Alec Issigonis and Dr. Alex Moulton must take the credit for the original Mini first released in 1959 it was John Cooper who later gave the car it's sporting creditionals and his name. Both two door, 4 seater, small family saloon and (4 times) Monte Carlo winning rally car; all from the same package. Quite remarkable and testament to the design, engineering and sporting genius of those three great men. Needless to say we are proud to be custodians of a classic Mini Cooper.
The Mini Cooper Spi was acquired from Cambridge Mini Works in February 2015. A single owner car originally sold in Ireland and now registered for the UK. The Spi Cooper is from the last year of production in 1996 just before the BMW engineered Mpi was introduced. Consequently you might say that it is the last 100% British iteration of the beloved Mini.
The car benefits from the very rare colour combination of charcoal black bodywork, white roof and bonnet stripes and includes some factory fitted options including full leather interior, colour coded 8 spoke alloys and walnut dashboard. For longevity, at the end of 2015 we had the car rustproofed and cavity waxed by our friends at Trickett Welding, Poole and the car is now serviced and maintained by Paul Higgs Cars, Classic Mini Specialists, New Milton. Overall the car is in outstanding original condition and drives as if it were fresh out the showroom.
