The MGB Tourer, or as it is more popularly known, MGB Roadster is a true classic two seater sports convertible tracing it's origins back to 1961 when it was announced to succeed the MGA. After 20 years in production the MGB epitomises exactly what classic car motoring is all about in it's purest and simplest form.
Our MGB Roadster was acquired early January 2013 from Classic Chrome of Mortlake, South London. The car was the subject of a complete rebuild by East London Classic Cars in 1995 to a very high standard and the restoration included many new body panels, new interior and a full mechanical overhaul. The paintwork has a fine patina with panel gaps and side chrome finishers perfectly aligned; a testament to the quality of the work undertaken. In January 2012 the engine was converted to unleaded and in our ownership the car has benefited from new rear springs, lever arm dampers and Uniroyal Rain Expert tyres. In 2018 the Roadster was subject to a sill refurbishment and rear deck and boot lid repaint by Trickett Welding, Poole where they made an excellent job of matching then blending in the Flame Red paintwork. The car is regularly serviced by Classic MG Services, Fareham.
Flame Red paintwork, chrome bumpers, black vinyl interior trim and painted wire wheels with chrome spinners – an iconic combination of style, colour and period materials. As a 1972 model year car it is one of the last with chrome bumpers. In addition and in period the car has a chrome grille surround with the black mesh and twin air vents in the dashboard. The 4 cylinder twin carburettor engine pulls strongly, with a precise gear change and sounds mesmerising with the note from the stainless steel exhaust.
The MGB Roadster needs no further introduction. The car is a joy to behold and drives brilliantly.
