Earlier in the Summer we welcomed customers, friends and "aficionados" from Spain who inspired a summer tour involving four other couples and four cars from the fleet plus a special guest MGB Roadster Mk1.
The Hotel Terravina played host the first evening providing accomodation and dinner after the jaunt through the back roads in and around the New Forest between Ashurst, Lyndhurst and Cadnam. While the Mini Cooper led the way, the Triumph Stag burbled behind, closely followed by the MGB GT Jubilee, Triumph TR6 and the guest MGB Roadster. Quite a convoy, tops down, sunroof open, caps tightly on and ladies scarves blowing gently in the breeze. A perfect way to explore the area, sight the Forest ponies and free range pigs munching acorns before returning to the Terravina and settling down to dinner and our carefully chosen wine. Our Spanish friends enjoyed their stay immensely wanting to take the bed back to Madrid - the most comfortable they have slept in ever!
A lie in Sunday with morning coffee at 11.00 before setting out on the ride to take us to the waterfront at Christchurch and the Captains Club Hotel for a light Sunday lunch. We managed to avoid the weekend traffic by taking the quieter country lanes and passing through picturesque villages across the Forest with the cars performing splendidly in the warm summer sunshine. Perfect. Plenty of top down fun was had by all including some car swapping for our Spanish couple! After lunch and a short walk along the River Stour toward the harbour we returned to the cars for the afternoon stage which would take us to the Montagu Arms Hotel, Beaulieu via the coastal road with views across the Solent to the Needles and the Isle of Wight.
By now we were down to three couples remaining in the three British Racing Green cars Stag, TR6 and MGB GT Jubilee. All would be dining with the Spanish couple staying at the The Montagu Arms for the night. As you can see from the photos what an impressive sight they made parked up outside the Hotel...the Best of British. We certainly turned a few heads that day in Beaulieu. Doing the same again at Bucklers Hard and The Master Builders on Monday midday for an BBQ lunch in the pub gardens overlooking the Beaulieu River before returning to base to leave the cars and prepare for those returning to Spain.
Our videographer made a clip of the second day which you can see and enjoy on our Facebook page. Well done Chloe!
A wonderful time was had by all and we will be looking to repeat the tour again next year. Let us know if you would like to take part.
